Bachelor of Science in 工程 in the School of Mathematics, Science and 工程 develops highly skilled, highly educated engineering professionals ready to succeed in the lab, in the field or in the C-suite.

The demand for engineers in the U.S. 每年都在增长. The modern engineer must be able to balance technology with the real-world concerns of human resources and social issues. They are critical in fields as diverse as urban planning, 产品开发, 机器人 and machines that people and industries count on every day.

 

工程课程

B.S. in 工程 is a 129-hour degree program that combines a strong core of math, science and engineering courses with an intensive study in one of four or tracks. 学生 can choose from electrical, 机械, management and mechatronics tracks based on their career or academic goals.

工程 students also have the opportunity to work with faculty on ongoing research projects, among them are Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) as part of the department’s Autonomous Vehicle Systems (AVS) Lab.

The Capstone course challenges students to apply their engineering education and apply it as a solution or innovation to a contemporary issue.

The Electrical track provides students a strong foundation in engineering principals with an emphasis on the programming of devices, 信号分析, 电的频率, interpretation of random signals, 反馈系统, 系统控制, tradeoffs between sensitivity and performance, 控制理论. 学生 have options to work on 机器人 and other devices. 研究生s specializing in this track are also prepared to pursue a graduate degree in electrical engineering.

The Mechanical track is a hands-on concentration that includes courses covering the following topics, among others—机械 vibrations, degrees of freedom for movement in a structure, stress analysis of elastic solids, 有限元素, 固体应力, 疲劳失效, 齿轮, 弹簧, thermophysical properties, heat transfer and heat exchangers. 学生 can expect to explore the inner workings of complex machines like vehicles and industrial equipment. 研究生s specializing in this track are also prepared to pursue a graduate degree in 机械 engineering.

The 管理跟踪 is an interdisciplinary concentration that integrates a comprehensive engineering education with business courses in economics, 会计, management and financial management, which all together prepare students for careers as managers and administrators in engineering and technology firms.

The Mechatronics track is a multidisciplinary concentration that combines elements of the Electrical track and Mechanical track. Mechatronics track students can further tailor their study by selecting two courses from the Electrical track and two from the Mechanical track with the approval of their advisor.
